June may mean that winter is here, but there’s no need to hibernate just yet as it’s also Hunter Valley Food and Wine month!

Throughout the month of June, the region’s diverse food and wine culture will come to life with a series of events and activities that will be sure to cure your winter blues. Wine and dine with leading Hunter Valley winemakers and chefs, take part in interactive cooking classes or if you’re after a more relaxing experience, simply curl up beside an open fire with a glass of Shiraz and a cheese plate.

One of the major highlights and events of the 2015 calendar is the 3rd annual Hunter Valley Wine Festival which will take place in the grounds of Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley on Saturday 20 June.

Some of regions best wineries will be showcasing their finest drops including Tempus Two, Gundog Estate and Tambulaine Organic Wines. There’ll be beer and cider stalls too as well as a range of food options celebrating the quality and variety of produce that the Hunter is renowned for. The Hunter Valley Cheese Company and Cuvee –handcrafted chocolate that’s designed to be the perfect match for wine are just two decadent stalls to keep an eye out for!

The event wouldn’t be complete without live music to help create that festive atmosphere and so there will be a variety of light entertainment throughout the day. Plus there’s no need to find a babysitter if you have kids as they’ll be entertained too with a range of family-friendly activities including a jumping castle, carousel and face painting.

Entry to the festival costs just $20 and includes 5 tasting vouchers. Alternatively, Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley is offering packages which include accommodation and festival entry with prices starting at just $279 for two people.
