If you’re planning a trip to Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley to explore the natural beauty of the ultimate wine country, one activity that takes things to new heights – literally – is a hot air balloon flight. Add a truly magical touch to your getaway and get a whole new perspective on the rolling landscape below with nothing but the sound of the wind and birds as you soar high above the Hunter Valley.

Why Take a Hunter Valley Balloon Flight?

The Hunter Valley is the oldest wine-producing region in Australia and is home to over 150 wineries and cellar doors. While walking past the vineyards, wine cellars and local restaurants is the best way to immerse yourself in the region’s rich culture and history, the aerial views of the picturesque hills, farmland, and the majestic Brokenback Mountain Range is an incredible experience you’ll not want to miss – and will likely never forget.

What You Will See

The best Hunter Valley hot air balloon rides take flight just before the break of dawn and last for approximately an hour. Once you are aboard, the hot air balloon will take you thousands of feet above lush, fertile land below, giving you the most amazing vantage point of the Hunter Valley’s spectacular vineyards and estates – all while watching the sun slowly rise above the horizon. As you gently soar above the valley in comfortable silence, you’ll also catch a glimpse of the Hunter Valley’s local wildlife, people and large bush areas bursting into life. There’s something magical when you see the region cast in the soft, bronze glow of the morning sun – but mornings aren’t the only time to take to the sky.

Hot Air Balloon Tours in Hunter Valley

Tour operators book flights year-round, but if you’re wondering when the best time is to book a balloon flight, we’d have to say during the summer and spring months. In summer and spring, weather conditions are most suitable for ballooning in the Hunter Valley. It is also the time of the year when the pastures are in full bloom and the vineyards are up for harvest.

Flights are also available during the colder months of June and July, but there may be a slight chance of cancellation or delay if the weather is not suitable for flying. It really doesn’t matter what season it is, the Hunter Valley never fails to disappoint in the beauty stakes – be it the stark contrast of winter of the vibrant greenery of summer.
